This is really a Simple danoodle dish to have with cooked rice.

Straightforward Dal

What ever heavy foods we consume, a very simple dal with a hot rice and a dollop of ghee can be the most comforting dish on earth. Full of protein and mild spices may be calming for your tummy any given day.

Ingredients

Toor dal — 1/2 cup

Shallots — 6 to 8( chopped approximately)

Tomato — 1 medium sized chopped

Green chilli — two sliced length wise

Garlic — two pods

Turmeric powder — 1/4 tsp

Red chilli powder — 1/2 tsp

Asafoetida — a generous pinch

Salt demanded

To temper

Mustard seeds — 1/2 tsp

Jeera — 1/2 tsp

Leaves — couple of

Coriander leaves — couple of

Oil/ ghee — two tsp

Method

  • Stress cook cleaned toor dal along necessary water to two tablespoons.
  • Add remaining ingredients except salt and pressure cook for the following 2 whistles.
  • After stress released, start the lid. Add salt and crush with a laddle.
  • Heat oil/ghee at a bowl. Temper all the components beneath ‘ to temper’ and pour over dal.
  • Serve warm with cooked rice combined pappads or even fryums.

Instructions
